Lincoln National Park

About 20km south of Port Lincoln on the Jessieu Peninsula, is the Lincoln National Park.  The coastline was explored by Matthew Flinders in the RMS Investigator and we've come across a number of cairns noting this.

We entered the park and spent a day exploring all the roads we could. There are some great campsites with some well suited to our large caravan.  The real winner here is the scenery.  Rugged coastline scenery with cliffs, beaches and plenty of low vegetation.

We checked out the caravan campsites at Surfleet Point and Cape Donington.  Both would be great for us.  The lighthouse at Cape Donington dominates the landscape.  Near Cape Donington is a cottage which can be rented for short periods from the Port Lincoln Visitor Centre.

We backtracked and made our way to the western side of the peninsula.  This was totally different to the eastern side.  Sand dunes and cliffs with very low vegetation to cope with the strong winds.

We had planned to spend a few days camping here but ended up with the caravan at Port Lincoln Tourist Park for 2 weeks.  Still we had plenty of time to explore the area.  We'll put the National Parks on our list for the future now that we've been able to check out the campsites.
