We've made it to Paris

After a short flight from Florence, we landed at Charles de Gaulle Airport just outside Paris.  We purchased 5 day train and Metro tickets and our tickets to Disneyland at the airport before boarding the RER B train.  We changed to the Metro at Gare du Nord for the short trip to the Oberkampf station and our hotel the Hotel Alhambra.  The trip was not without incident as Robert was pick-pocketed on the Metro and his phone was stolen.  This led to a trip to the local police station - about 15 minutes from the hotel, and a 3 hour wait there while the report was typed up (we needed to do this so we can claim on travel insurance).  Generally a pretty boring evening, but things can only get better.  The hotel is very pleasant with friendly staff.

In the morning we set off to visit Disneyland and the Walt Disney Studios - a good idea to do this early as it will be a tiring day.  First stop is the Walt Disney Studios where we did the Studio Tram Tour.  The tram took us for a drive around the back lots and we saw some of the props used in several films.  We experienced an "earthquake" as our carriage was rocked from side to side, buildings burst into flame and a dam burst covering the tram with 250,000 litres of water.

After a couple of hours at the studio we moved into Parc Disneyland to spend the rest of the day.  We rode the Star Tour to Endor, jumping to hyperspace just like in Star Wars.

There are plenty of rides and activities and we rode the teacups of the Mad Hatter's Tea Party and the roller coasters of Space Mountain and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril.  A leisurely boat trip through the Pirates of the Caribbean and it was time to watch the lights come on over Sleeping Beauty's Castle before watching the Magic of Disney Parade.






A very busy day with plenty of walking.  Tomorrow will be much easier.
