Old Laura Station

Our last full day at Laura and we've decided to visit the Old Laura Station ruins in the Rinyirru (Lakefield) National Park.  The National Park is huge and stretches north to Princess Charlotte Bay.

Old Laura Station is managed by the rangers and is very well kept.  The station predates 1882.  There are several buildings in this homestead on the picturesque Laura River.  We had to ford a couple of river crossings in the 25km drive to the station.  There are photos and sketches of the station and it's operations from bygone days.

We saw the butcher's shed, the chook shed and the station hands quarters.

The old tank stand base remains although the tank is long gone.
