More from Geraldton

We'll be leaving this area in a few days and will be heading east towards the goldfields so we're starting to get organised for our departure.

Our Landcruiser was booked in for a service today so we took the opportunity to wander around Geraldton and do some sightseeing.  On our walk into town we passed the well which was the first permanent water source for the Geraldton settlement.

We had breakfast at The Dome Cafe which is on the waterfront.  We watched ships being loaded with wheat for export while we ate.

After breakfast we wandered along the waterfront.  There are a number of public art works in the area.  This kinetic sculpture is called "Zephyr" and it moves constantly in this windy climate.

These bronze and ceramic tile sculptures "Ilgarijiri" represent "things belonging in the sky", the Emu in the Sky and the Seven Sisters.

Weibbe Hayes, the Hero of the Batavia, saved many lives and was responsible for the bringing to justice of Jeronimous Cornelisz who assumed control of the 200 survivors of the Batavia shipwreck and ruled with a reign of terror and murder until their ultimate rescue.

We've really enjoyed our few weeks in the Mid-West Wheatbelt of WA.  And it's been good to establish contact with more of Cherryl's WA cousins.
