The Beautiful Chapman Valley

For the last two weeks we've been in the beautiful Chapman Valley, about 25km north-east of Geraldton in Western Australia's wheat belt.

Our main reason for being here has been to attend the Bushtracker Owners Group Annual Muster.  Our caravan owners group has a get together every year and this is the third one we've been to.  It's been great to catch up with old friends and make new friends at the many social activities organised by the hard working committee.

This year about 40 caravans were camped at the  Nanson Showgrounds near Nabawa.  Cherryl was lucky enough to win a first prize for some pastries she made for the "bake off" competition.  Quite an achievement given the tasty delicacies that were entered.  We enjoyed a mouth watering spit roast dinner and joined in with the wildflower theme for the catered dinner.  After 10 days of festivities our fellow "Boggers" decamped and headed for various destinations around Australia.

We've spent time exploring this beautiful area and we'll be here for another couple of weeks.  We spent an enjoyable morning at the local museum which has some great exhibits.  Civic history is represented by the old council chambers with historic council documents on display.  It was interesting to read old rates notices and details of council meetings held over 100 years ago.  A display of machinery was very impressive.  The machinery is all in working order and has been cleaned and repainted.  There is a room full of social history, with plenty of photos, paintings and family history records.

Nearby Coronation Beach is a popular camping and picnic spot.  We drove there for a look at the campsites.  There aren't many big enough for our caravan and all of the sites are full because it's school holidays at the moment.
